Amberside Advisors and EY have advised Hudson Sustainable Investments and Eurolinque Realty on the raising of construction finance into one of the world’s largest greenfield biogas-to-grid projects.
Sustainable Bio Solutions Aabenraa (“SBSA”) is a shovel-ready gas-to-grid biogas project strategically located in in Kliplev, Denmark. It is anticipated that once the project is completed it will be up to four times the size of a typical biogas plant, capable of processing up to c.1Mtpa of organic waste and supplying 41m Nm3 of methane into the national Danish gas grid. Completion of construction is targeted for Q2 2022.
EY and Amberside co-advised the developers of the project, successfully securing long-term construction funding for the plant. Arjun Infrastructure Partners was selected as the preferred investor from the process and have committed to provide full funding for the construction of the plant.
“I would like to thank EY and Amberside for their tremendous support in raising the capital to fully support the SBSA business plan. It’s exceptionally rewarding to see the project enter full construction under the EPC with Bigadan and the grid connection agreement with EVIDA” – Nick Hexter, Project Development Director SBSA
“I am extremely pleased to see this important piece of energy infrastructure reach Financial Close following the continued efforts of many supporters, of which EY and Amberside feature highly on this list. The SBSA team look forward to working with all of our partners in bringing this biogas project, situated in the municipality of Aabenraa, into continued operations for many decades to come.” – Lars Byberg, Project & Operations Director SBSA
The developers were advised by Horten Advokatpartnerselskab and Greenberg Traurig LLP (Legal), NIRAS (Technical), and EY (Tax).
