James joined Amberside Advisors from our parent company, Steer, to develop his work in energy transition. James’ experience over the last decade in consulting includes management consultancy, strategic communications and government engagement, as well as financial and commercial advisory. James has worked on projects in sport, retail, education, property and transport, but his specialism lies in energy transition solutions including commercial and domestic retrofit, carbon capture, utilisation and storage and heat networks. James has led financial and commercial advisory mandates in energy transition for Amberside clients including Barings LLP, North London Waste Authority and GMCA.

James holds a degree in English Literature from the University of Exeter. In addition to building and auditing financial models for a range of clients, including renewable energy developers, property developers, transport asset owner-operators, and commercial asset managers, James also has experience in investor engagement, and has supported clients through HNWI investment processes and due diligence, including securing an offer of finance for a £100 million residential property portfolio in the UK.

James has also run a small country pub, helping it to secure Asset of Community Value status. Away from the office, James is an accomplished musician, playing occasionally for a well-established semi-professional band, a keen village cricketer, and can usually be found in the countryside walking the family dogs.
